Default GW and Wide LCD Monitor's

Will GW run on either of these ok?

Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW (Gray) 24" LCD Monitor
24", Flat Panel LCD TFT (Active Matrix), Brightness: 500 cd/m² , Contrast Ratio: 1000:1 , Max. Resolution: 1920 x 1200

Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW (Gray) 20.1" LCD Monitor
20.1", Flat Panel LCD TFT (Active Matrix), Brightness: 300 cd/m , Contrast Ratio: 600:1 , Max. Resolution: 1680 x 1050

My Viewsonic is crapping out and I need to get a new monitor for my computer. Anyone have a 19"+ lcd that they can recommend?

LCD's work fine, they just look crappy in wide screen mode.

crappy???

I'm playing on 1920x1200 and it looks terrific. Looks no different than 1600x1200 except you can see more on the sides ... I don't understand your reply.

...or were you not refering to the game?

Xue,
You using the Dell 2405FPW? I'm assuming so since not many monitors have this whacky screen size. What kind of video card are you using with it? I'm not sure my Nvidia 6800 GT supports that mode, so that kinda factors in here as well.

This one sounds pretty good as well, and is somewhat cheaper than those other 2.

ViewSonic VX924 19-inch 4ms TFT LCD
Native Resolution : 1280 x 1024 Brightness : 270cd/m² Contrast Ratio : 550:1 Response Time : 4ms Gray to Gray / 5ms typical Dot Pitch : 0.294mm

I play guild Wars on my Dell i9300 laptop with a 17" widescreen at 1920x1200 using a GeForce 6800 Go video card and GW plays FAST and looks PERFECT (constant 30+ fps).

And, yes, it is true widescreen NOT a stretched regular screen.

I agree with Xue Yi Liang...

It DOES look fantastic on a Dell UltraSharp 2405 FPW 24" widescreen. My friend has that monitor (I have the 2001FP 20.1" screen). 1920x1200 is the max and it is sweet looking...all he is using is my "old" Dell OEM X600 vid card that came with my Dell box recently. I was stunned at the performance of that whimpy card. It still doesn't have the guts of better cards...but it does widescreen just fine. Dell's UltraSharp line is one of the best bangs for the buck out there today.

Ya I'm picking up the Dell 24" for myself for Xmas. My friend has the 20" and is playin (excuse the curse word) WOW and its looks amazing. Very clear and no stretching. Dell widescreens are the only way to go IMO.

My friend brought the 1st display mentioned (the 24") to our last LAN party. HOLY COW, that thing looks drop-dead gorgeous!

You won't get video stretch/distortion so long as you load Dell's drivers for that UltraSharp.

I've got a Dell XPS laptop - has a 1920x1200 WUXGA screen, 3.4 Ghz P4, 1 gig ram and a Mobility Radeon 9800 card.

Yes they are simply beautiful. I chose the 2001FP 20.1" over the 2005FPW 20" widescreen because it is bigger over all while in standard mode. I have a 34" HDTV and while that is in standard mode it is really a 27" TV. That being said is why I like the 20.1" 4:3 ratio over the 16:9 ratio on the 20" screen. I wish I would have waited for the 2405FPW 24" to come down in price. It does every few months with coupon and discounts. I needed a monitor quick and Dell had mine on sale door to door for $549.00. Plus is was at least a 16ms screen. The 20" & 24" are 12ms screens. The 19" UltraSharp is a 25ms screen...no way was I getting that one even though that WAS the best price at the time.

Dell's are the best buy on monitors. They purposely force their monitors down in price and make up for it in volume.

Umm I was playing GW on my friends new Sager 5720 @ 1920 x 1200 and it looked amazing. I am really considering this laptop for myself, especially after I saw GW running on it. Awaiting to see what the new 17" MSI models are like before I make my final decision. Only problem with the 5720 is short battery life, but that is to be expected with a go7800GTX in it.

My bad, I didn't tweak my settings right. I had it set to 1024X768 which made the graphics stretch out of proportion.

Ah, incorrect aspect ratio explains everything
